    That One Gift

Last year I pledged to buy everything locally, and almost succeeded except my son wanted a video camera to record his skate boarding tricks. I haven't found any locally owned places that have electronics like that, and I didn't want to spend much money, so I got him a Tony Hawks helmet cam online.

This year I have made the pledge to do 100% again, and I am sure Forrest will be the problem again. He is still into skate boarding though, so if I can't find anything locally, I can go to Redbelly Boards in Ann Arbor which is locally owned and get him something.

This brings me to the point of my post. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to shop in Ypsi that carry things like skateboarding, roller blading, electronics and technology that a teenager would want.

Last year I had really good success shopping at Bowerbird, Quinns, several of the antique stores, and many others for the rest of my family. I was able to get Forrest a few things from the Rocket and Gordons, but he is a little old for most of the stuff there.

    Hey Jim,

Great site! About getting skate boarding stuff in the area. You might try talking to the folks at Bicycles In Town. There's every chance that the companies who supply their bike accessories carry boarding accessories too. Then it's a matter of looking through some product catalogs and special ordering what you need. Good luck and happy shopping!

Last year about this time, someone mentioned Tree Fort Bikes on Whittaker Rd. From checking out their website it looks like perhaps they used to be called Tree Fort Bike and Board. They may not carry skate stuff anymore, but might have a lead for you, or like Brian mentioned, be able to order something for you.
