Fun finds for trimming the tree

Anyone who knows me really well knows I'm a nut about trimming a tree. I've been collecting ornaments for over 20 years and have examples from the late 19th century all the way through dated ornaments from last year. So I'm always on the prowl for new and different trims.

    Must haves for this week:

For the "green" person in your life - Paper Icicles from Gordon's

For the therapist in your life - Door Hanger from The Rocket

For the babe in your life - Very cool infant wear from de Vine

My find of the day has to be boxes of paper "icicles" at Gordon's. These are WAY COOL shreds of what appears to be unbleached paper with words like "joy" printed on them. They will brighten up the tree AND because they are a wood product, they shouldn't cause problems when you go to recycle your tree!! I'm totally impressed with this trim and am knocking my forehead for not thinking of it myself.

de Vine has some brilliant holiday cards. The Hanukkah card featuring a row of shoes as a menorah won me over. They also have some really great ornaments. I picked up a sweet little glass candle ornament for well under $5. Yipee!! (Cause I REALLY need another ornament.) Check out the infant caps in the back corner, BIG style for itty bitty heads.

The Rocket has come through for me, again. I needed themed gifts for four VERY different people; an engineer, a therapist, a biochemist and an IT guru. Wow, looking at that list, it seems I run with quite a crowd. Anywho...The "I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it." door hanger felt soooo right for my therapist friend. Yeah, it's wrong on so many levels. That's what makes it so right! It's the gift every social worker/therapist needs.

    Gotta go, it's wrap time.

    Around town...

So, I'm sitting in Bombadill's looking out at the layer of snow and sipping coffee. I have a few gifts to pick up at The Rocket for a party tonight. I've been eyeing those knit hats they have for a while now. I know my ears would thank me for the coverage come the bitter weather we're bound to have this winter. Hmmm, comfort vs wearing a hat with earflaps... Opinions? I've already picked up several of the fun $1.99 ornaments and plan on getting more. Great little something something to have on hand.

The dusting of snow makes a nice backdrop for the gingerbread house events today. Looks like the folks at B-dill's are gearing up for another great event. Personally, I'm going to skeeeedaddle before the mayhem. I like kids, really I do. Catching a mellow Saturday is for too precious for me to pass up. Still, I'll stop by later to see how things are going.

Happy days all. And keep shopping ypsi.
